A UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating is a measure of the effectiveness of a fabric in protecting against ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. UPF indicates how much UV radiation can penetrate the fabric and reach the skin.
UPF ratings typically range from 15 to 50+. The higher the UPF rating, the greater the level of protection provided by the fabric. A fabric with a UPF rating of 50, such as on the Oasis Sun Hat allows only 1/50th (or 2%) of UV radiation to penetrate through it. This helps to reduce the risk of sunburn, skin aging, and skin cancer.
