Thank you for your interest, this Big Agnes System sleeping bag requires an insulated sleeping pad in order to achieve the advertised temperature rating. We would strongly recommend a sleeping pad with at least an R value of 3 minimum to meet those requirements. You would need to verify the insulation level of the foam pad to see if it meets Big Agnes' metrics for usage.
